Arctic and Northern Ocean Forum 2019

September 2-4, 2019
Held at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, Helsinki, Finland

A Forum for fusing Engineering, Science and Technology to address the challenges of the changing Arctic and Northern Oceans.

The Initiative on North and South Pole, supported by IEEE Technical Activities since 2017 went first South in Australia in 2017 and 2018, for the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Forum. This year we are moving to Helsinki, Finland, as the Arctic is the place where all Continents that were kept apart by a sea of ice are now connected through waters that global warming is rendering navigable.
We are proposing sessions around the following topics:

  • Arctic Ecosystems under Change
  • Observation Technologies (including Autonomous Systems)
  • Applied Data Science
  • Sustained Arctic Observations

There will also be a focus on on technologies to help gather and analyze data concerning changes in marine productivity in support of the Agreement to Prevent Unregulated High Seas Fisheries in the Central Arctic Ocean signed recently by nine countries and the European Union.

Abstract deadline: June 7, 2019
