GRSS Goes Datacubes
Datacubes are a human-centric, natural paradigm for spatio-temporal data. IEEE GRSS is picking up on this trend with its own federated datacube service – for the members, by the members. This is part of the GRSS activity developing the next-generation EO infrastructure for the archival, curation, and sharing of open data and computational resources. This task responds to the growing need for infrastructure support within the GRSS community, including TCs, Chapters, Global Activities, Industry.
The EO-Cube activity contributes fully standards-based datacubes-as-a-service as part of the forthcoming GRSS EO infrastructure. A federation with existing Petascale EO datacube assets will enable completely location-transparent distributed datacube fusion. EO-Cube is contributed by the Earth Science Informatics Technical Committee (ESI TC), supported by IEEE GRSS Strategic Initiative funds. See more at eocube.org.
