VEDA: A NASA Open Source Platform for Geosciences

VEDA: A NASA Open Source Platform for Geosciences

Webinar Speaker: Aimee Barciauskas

Development Seed / NASA IMPACT

About the Webinar

Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA) is NASA’s open-source science platform for Earth science research and applications. VEDA aims to facilitate interdisciplinary science at scale by providing a lightweight and standard-based data catalog, APIs for data querying, processing, and visualization, and a managed cloud environment. The webinar will demonstrate how VEDA addresses the challenges of data processing, visualization, and exploration, especially for cloud-native data. Learn about its collaborative environment, interactive visual interface, GIS capabilities, dynamic scaling platform, and modeling infrastructure. The discussion will also include how the GRSS community can leverage VEDA for their own work.

About the Speaker

Aimee has been a data engineer at Development Seed for over 5 years. During that time, she has worked to make NASA’s IMPACT to make Earth Observation data cloud-friendly. She has made significant contributions to NASA’s Multi-Mission Algorithm and Analysis Platform, the Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA) Project, is on the steering committee of the Pangeo project, and is a chair of the Earth Systems Information Partners (ESIP) Cloud Computing Cluster. Aimee received a M.S. in data science from Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a B.A. in economics and philosophy from Boston College.
