Emerging technologies in Remote Sensing have resulted in many Satellite Missions that have numerous geoscientific applications leading to a deeper understanding of the Earth System. Federated small satellites missions, 4D imaging capabilities of Tandem X mission, GNSS Reflectometry, radars for atmospheric studies, InSAR and PolSAR data acquisitions have presented many challenges. Some of the challenges include processing and analysis of Big Data, Calibration of EO Sensors and Standardization. This has led to the development of faster data processing schemes, advanced data analytics, statistical models and computational Intelligence-based techniques and tools.

Keeping in view the above, TNGARSS 19 (www.tengrass.org/), a Region 10 Special Session on GRS at IEEE TENCON 19 (www.tencon2019.org/) is being organized at Kochi, Kerala from October 17th to 20th 2019. This is an exclusive one-stop program intended for researchers working in the areas of interest in Remote Sensing to network and exchange their views and discuss possible solutions related to present challenges in the areas of interest to Geoscience and Remote Sensing. The primary objective is to promote Remote Sensing applications, discuss emerging technologies, Big Data Analytics, new calibration/validation schemes for EO sensors, Missions, and development of Standards. This Session has the technical co-sponsorship of IEEE GRSS.
