This position will work at the interface between technical and managerial expertise, with a primary role to enhance forest plantation health monitoring system and to apply remote sensing techniques to various forestry businesses to ensure land security through remote sensing technology. Incumbent shall process and analyze imagery data and be able to communicate clearly the objective of remote sensing for sustainable forest management between departments and apply outcome to the operations. As a leader, incumbent should be able to manage the staffs and technicians, supervise their works while also developing them. Incumbent is expected to work together with operations line managers, such as plantation and harvesting, to understand their needs and challenges, and give corrective actions based on research results and best available knowledge.
- Candidates should have a minimum of Master degree in forestry, geography, or other related field of expertise.
- Ideally, candidates have at least 10 years of solid remote sensing and GIS working experience, as well as in a managerial role for the past 3 years.
- The understanding of latest imagery technologies/techniques will be crucial, such as and not limited to Envi, Globalmapper, LiDAR, ArcView, PX4D, Phyton or R scripting for spatial analysis, et cetera.
- Familiarity with pulpwood plantation or pulp and paper industry will be an added value for the candidates.
