During this webinar, we will discuss the organization of M2GARSS 2020, the 1st Mediterranean and Middle-East (M2) regional symposium that was held from March 9th to March 11th, 2020 in Tunis, Tunisia.
In addition, we will talk about how it offered an ideal forum for obtaining up-to-date information about the latest developments, exchanging ideas, identifying future trends in research areas and making contacts with the international remote sensing community. Since it has gathered M2 and world-class scientists, engineers and educators engaged in the fields of geoscience, remote sensing and related topics.

Riadh Abdelfattah will talk about “M2GARSS 2020, the first GRSS symposium mixing online and physical participation: Lessons learned”, while Fairouz Stambouli will talk about “M2GARSS 2020, a fulfilling experience for students and Young Professionals”.

SPEAKER’S BIO:
Riadh Abdelfattah received the engineering degree from the ́Ecole Sup erieure des Postes et des Telecommunications (SUP’COM), Tunis, Tunisia, in 1995, the M.S. (DEA), and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the ́Ecole Nationale Ingenieurs de Tunis, Tunis, Tunisia, in 1995 and 2000, respectively, and le Diplˆomede l’Habilitation Universitaire from the Higher School of Communications (SUP’COM), University of Carthage, Carthage, Tunisia.

Between 2000 and 2002, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Ecole Nationale des Telecommunications, Paris, France, consecutively with the Department TSI and then with the Department COM-ELEC. Currently, he is an Associate Professor with the Higher School of Communications for Engineers, University of Carthage, and an Associate Researcher with the Department ITI, Telecom-Bretagne, Institut de Telecom, Brest, France. He has authored and coauthored more than 60 journal papers, conference papers, and book chapter. His research interests include interferometric radar imagining, multitemporal and multiscale image analysis, desertification, flooding and soil salinity mapping from remote sensed data.
Dr. Abdelfattah was also a member of the Executive Committee of the IEEE Tunisia Section (2013–2014).

Fairouz Stambouli received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and information technology from the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), Germany. During her master’s studies, she specialized in aerospace RF engineering. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate and a Research Scientist at the Microwaves and Radar Institute of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany. Her research fields include cognitive synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems, antennas and digital beamforming techniques for flexible scanning features and adaptive imaging and tracking capabilities.
