Kiyo Tomiyasu (S’41-A’42-M’49-SM’52-F’62-LF’85) was born in Las Vegas, NV, on September 25, 1919. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena in 1940, the M.S. degree in communication engineering from Columbia University, New York, NY in 1941, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering science and applied physics from Harvard University in 1948. IEEE Life Fellow Kiyo Tomiyasu’s loyalty and commitment to IEEE spans nearly 70 years, from the time he joined the Institute of Radio Engineers, one of IEEE’s predecessor societies, in 1941 as a student until today. To honor his lifetime of giving to IEEE, Tomiyasu, 90, is being inducted into the IEEE Heritage Circle.
