Research involves participatory monitoring in the context of forest management and land use (http://www.wageningenur.nl/cbm); with particular emphasis in activities for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+). The focus of the work will be on an interactive forest monitoring systems building upon near-real time remote sensing data and community/local expert-acquired data on forest and land changes.
- PhD degree and experience in Computer Science, Quantitative Tropical Forest Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Technologies
- Strong English skills are fundamental
- Background in participatory monitoring, handheld technologies, time series remote sensing image analysis, and related data handling and programming skills
