The Group Leader in Remote Sensing will provide technical and programmatic leadership for the Remote-Sensing Group of the National Security Emerging Technologies (NSET) Divison. The Remote-Sensing Group in the NSET division at Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL) advances research and development regarding data collected by both active and passive sensor types for spaceborne, airborne, and terrestrial environments.
Required Qualifications include:
- Masters degree in remote-sensing, geography, physical sciences, or related area and 12+ years of experience, or a PhD in any of the above-mentioned disciplines and 6+ years of experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of remote-sensing, algorithms for detection and classification of earth observations, and the physics of optical systems in support of remote-sensing systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of the engineering behind airborne, spaceborne, and terrestrial sensors for collecting multispectral to hyperspectral imagery data, uncertainty in collections, and the measurement of performance and effectiveness of remote-sensing systems.
