Welcome to the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Web page! In this site you will find information and resources that will help you in your professional career.

In addition to some technical improvements such as the access using the same login as IEEE, which facilitates the frequent and accurate update of the membership database etc. in the past months we have been populating the web site with new materials that can be of interest to you: on-line lectures, now organized by topics, public and IGARSS tutorials, as well as PhD dissertations. We need your inputs to keep increasing the contents and the value you get for being a GRS-S member. If you have teaching materials, know about public quality remote sensing tutorials or know of Ph D students willing to publizice their work, please let them know that here they have a place.

As usual, if you want to contribute with new contents, if you want to include an ad, or if you find information outdated or have any suggestion, please do not hesitate to contact the web master Prof. Adriano Camps at camps@tsc.upc.edu.

We are working on a new page to highlight Ph.D. dissertations by our student members. The current plan is to publish dissertations in English and to maintain them online for at least three years. If you are interested in making your dissertation available, please send an e-mail to Adriano, GRS-S Web Master. Include your IEEE membership number, an abstract of less than one page, and an authorization to IEEE GRS-S to publish it on the web site.

President's Message

IEEE GRSS President’s Report -- 2008

The year 2008 brings a number of challenges and new opportunities for GRSS as the Society endeavours to become more relevant and responsive to the needs of its specialized membership. Whether it is instrumentation and sensor design, energy-matter interactions or image processing and applications, the overall objective of the scientific research we undertake is to improve understanding of environmental processes and provide information that will enhance sustainability as well as promote the efficient management of the earth’s natural environment. Remote sensing together with other spatial information technologies such as GPS and GIS can make a unique and valuable contribution to how we map, measure and evaluate the impact of human activities on the physical world.
