A new exhibit titled Climate Change and You exhibit has opened at The Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island, New York. With funding from Hofstra University, with the support of the U.S. Dept. of Energy, and GRSS the exhibit educates on global climate change by giving visitors a remarkable new interface to NASA Earth observation data.

GRSS’s own David Weissman was instrumental in bringing the exhibit to life.

NASA Science Explorer

The NASA Science Explorer application is mounted at the exhibit on a touch screen tablet. You can take a test drive of the application online. Users can examine the Earth through the eyes of a number of satellites featuring data sets that highlight Carbon Monoxide Levels, Global Biosphere, Vegetation, Global Fires and more. Click and drag the globe to see the data displayed across the earth. Throughout the application you can call up specific information about each satellite used to collect the data.

EYES on The Earth

The EYES on the Earth Application from NASA and the Jet Propulsion Lab lets you ride along with NASA’s satellites as they circle the globe.

  • Turn on ground tracking to see exactly where the satellite is looking during its path.
  • Speed up time to see the entire orbit.
  • Examine missions grouped by their emphasis on on remote sensing of the atmosphere, land or oceans.
  • Hit Real Time to see the actual satellite location at the current time.

The papers considered for this special issue will address recent breakthroughs in the science and technology useful for implementing multidisciplinary interoperability. They will include the introduction and discussion of new or advanced multi-disciplinary interoperability solutions (e.g. multi-disciplinary data models, vocabularies, discovery & access service protocols, encoding languages, etc.), as well as the description of innovative multi-disciplinary systems and applications (e.g. Earth System Science applications or multi-disciplinary Observatory Systems).
