Our office in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a bright, energetic individual for scientific and technical work focused on applied hydrodynamics problems concerning flows along rivers, estuaries and coastlines.  The successful candidate will be proficient at applying scientific principles and theories through observations and models to improve fundamental understanding and develop practical applications.

The incumbent will:

· Participate in field experiments while working in a dynamic team environment

· Apply scientific principles and theories through observations and models to improve fundamental understanding and develop practical applications

· Develop and deploy remote imaging capabilities focused on improving our country’s ability to observe and forecast the marine environment

The problems being addressed cut across traditional academic disciplines (i.e. fluid dynamics, oceanography, meteorology, and engineering).  Research areas include fluid dynamics, turbulence, sediment transport, EO/IR imaging systems, image velocimetry, ocean waves, air-sea interaction or numerical modeling.  A successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in at least one of these areas and a working knowledge of others.

MS or PhD degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or related field required.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship and drug test are required to meet position eligibility. An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance is a plus.
