Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (TGARS)

The internationally subscribed monthly journal, Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (TGARS), publishes advances in sensing instruments and techniques used for the acquisition of geoscientific information as well as techniques for processing, enhancing and interpreting information derived from remote sensing instruments. Transactions on GRS is part of the basic service received with GRS membership or GRSS affiliation.

TGARS Special Issue on Remote Sensing of Building Interior

A Special Issue of the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (TGARS) devoted to Data Archiving and Distribution has been approved recently by the TGARS Editorial Board.

The field of remote sensing has developed a range of interesting imaging approaches for a variety of applications. Through wall and through building sensing are relatively new areas that involve the process of remotely detecting, classifying, and locating objects inside buildings or other structures. “Seeing” optically obscured stationary and moving objects behind obstacles such as walls, doors, and other visually opaque materials is a powerful tool for a variety of civilian, law enforcement, and military applications. Accurate sensing and imaging can allow a police force to get an accurate description of a building in a hostage crisis, or allow firefighters to locate people trapped inside a burning building. It has been recently sought out in other rescue missions, such as searching for earthquakes and avalanche victims and survivals. The goal of this new technology is to provide vision into otherwise obscured areas.

The technologies covered by this Special Issue include active and passive RF technology as well as acoustics and ultrasound. Papers for this issue should deal with sensing of stationary and/or moving targets inside aboveground or underground manmade structures. The papers should address the following related areas: Analytical and Numerical Methods for the forward problem, phenomenological studies for Modeling of Wall Effects and Signal Dispersion, Target Detection and Tracking, Beamforming and High-Resolution Imaging, Noncoherent Approaches for Target Localization, Estimation of Internal Building Layouts, Airborne and Ground-Based SAR Imaging, Autofocussing Techniques, Sensor Fusion, Polarization-based Imaging, Doppler and MicroDoppler Signature Estimation for Target Classification, Ultra wideband Radars, MIMO and Waveform Design and Diversity, Experimentations and Proof of Concept.

Prospective authors should follow the regular guidelines of the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, as listed in the back cover of the Transactions. Authors should submit their manuscripts electronically to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tgrs. Instructions for creating new accounts, if necessary, are available on the login screen. Please indicate in your submission that the paper is intended for Special Issue by selecting “RSBI Special Issue” from the pull-down menu for manuscript type. Questions concerning the submission process should be addressed to tgars-editor@ieee.org. Inquiries concerning the Special Issue should be directed to the Guest Editors:

IEEE Gold Remote Sensing Conference
Final Programme

This event provides a platform for young researchers, GOLD stands for Graduate Of Last Decade, to present their work in all aspects of remote sensing. Presenters must be first graduated no later than in 1998, be first author and present the paper at the conference. Professionals, company employees, Master students, PhD students are warmly encouraged to take advantage of the the third IEEE GOLD REMOTE SENSING Conference which is aimed at being a full european and international venue for young talented people. No admission charge is requested while IEEE GRS Student Membership is requested.

Submission Deadline: May, 5 2008
