GRSS: Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society

The User Interface Working Group

The User Interface Working Group (UIWG) is one of a series of working groups established by the IEEE Committee on Earth Observations that will represent a various societies within IEEE. The working groups of ICEO mimic the structure of working groups of GEOSS.

To establish the UIWG, we draw upon recent development within the Geophysics and Remote Sensing Society. A new technical committee of GRSS entitled “User Applications in Remote Sensing” (UARS) has been recently created to allow GRSS to be more inclusive by reaching out to the user community. One objective is to establish a dialogue between the scientists and engineers that form the traditional GRSS profile and the rapidly expanding group of users of remote sensing and associated georeferenced data.

To kick-start the UIWG, the GRSS membership and UARS committee was canvassed to determine interest in the UIWG. The current roster includes 43 IEEE GRSS members from around the world.
